Busy on Buffalo Road...


Lots of activity on our end of Buffalo Road this week - the town is working on repairing the small bridge just down the road and the door to the basement at the Rumney Historical Museum is being replaced. Fortunately the weather has been cooperating for these last fall projects.

Schedule of Events for 2010

Saturday, July 24th at 2 pm – Ice Cream Summer Social
Tour the Museum, see the new exhibits, and enjoy our annual cake and ice cream social. Music with a 40s flavor will be provided by Rachel Funk and Shaun Booher. This event will be held next door on the Turbynes’ lawn if the weather cooperates! Invite your friends and neighbors to come along. (Chairperson: Mary Barnes 786-9464)


Saturday, August 14th – Rumney ‘Old Home Day’
Make the Museum part of your Old Home Day - The Museum will be open from 10 am until 4 pm with special World War II exhibits.


Thursday, September 16th at 7 pm – The Home Front during WWII
What was life like for those who remained at home during the turbulent years of World War Two? Marcia Schmidt Blaine will talk about life in Rumney and neighboring towns during this time. Refreshments will be served.

Thursday, October 21st at 7 pm – The Home Front during WWII (Part 2)
Ration booklets, censored letters from overseas, blackouts – Please come share your memories or any stories that you have heard about life in this area during World War II. Facilitator Marcia Schmidt Blaine will lead our discussion. The Wentworth Congregational Choir under the direction of Gary Jessian will open our program with a medley of patriotic music. Refreshments will be served.

Thursday, November 18th at 7 pm – Annual Business Meeting
Come and vote on our proposed by-laws and officers and board members for the ensuing year.

Sunday, December 12th at 2 – Our Annual Christmas Tea
Join your friends and neighbors as we welcome in the holiday season - an elegant setting, an abundance of Christmas cookies, and a time to wish one and all the blessings of the season.

The Belknap Button Club will be entertaining us with everything you would ever want to know about buttons. Bring along a button you might like to know more about. (Chairperson: Sharlie Smith 786-9793)

Thursday, October 22nd at 7 pm – Old Timers’ Night

The 2009 Season Begins

President Roger Daniels is back at work as host of the Rumney Historic Museum. The Museum is open to the public each Saturday from 10 am until 2 pm. You are invited to stop in.
